Although the standard version of Starfield was set to release in 2 days, the Premium version was made available 4 days earlier, breaking concurrent player records on Steam despite its early release. The game even found its way onto torrent sites before its official launch. However, today’s news focuses on a different achievement of the game.
Young gamer’s life saved thanks to non-stop Starfield play
The incident came to light on the Reddit platform. The gamer shared his story, stating, “Starfield literally saved my and my family’s lives on September 1st,” and posted a photo of his house engulfed in flames.
User “Tidyckilla,” who had eagerly awaited the game since the rumors started circulating in 2015, purchased the Premium version to be able to play the game as soon as it was released and sat down at his PC on the night of August 31st, waiting for the game to go live.
The gamer’s sole purpose was to play the game as much as possible. However, at 2:26 in the morning, he heard an explosion from his downstairs neighbor’s apartment.
Tidyckilla stopped the game to understand what was happening and when he opened the door, he saw flames rising up the stairs towards his own apartment. Thanks to his alertness, the gamer managed to grab his wife and cat and escape the fire with minor burns.
It was later revealed that the explosion in the lower apartments was caused by an individual smoking near an oxygen tank. The player believes that if he hadn’t stayed awake to play Starfield that night, they wouldn’t have survived because the explosion wasn’t powerful enough to be heard while they were asleep.
He expressed his gratitude to the game, saying, “I want to thank this game for saving my family and me from a terrible fate. Thank you, GODD HOWARD.”
